Paypal and Plagiarism

Plagiarism seems to be the theme of this week. Many people have been victims of plagiarism and should never have to experience such a terrible thing. One of my favorite authors, J.L. Langley, wrote on her experience with plagiarism: Link to News

No matter how nice the person is who committed the plagiarism or how apologetic they may seem they are still thieves and should never have made a penny off of other authors hard work. In this writers opinion I say sue the pants off the plagiarist!

Another great article to read is: Link to Blog

Theo Fernraven discusses all of the topics I bring up in this post which are all important as they effect us writers and readers!

Paypal is absolutely unbelievable!

Here is a great article on the topic: Link to Article

The part that made me upset the most is: “Under the new PayPal policy, Mark Corker of Smashwords told all the Smashwords authors they would also have to remove paranormal romance that included shape-shifters – if the shape-shifters were to have sex in their non-human forms.

When PayPal told Excessica’s Selena Kitt that BDSM fiction was not allowed in her catalog she wrote on her blog ( NSFW),

That’s right – they weren’t just targeting illegal acts between non-consenting adults. Now they were targeting legal sex between consenting adults.

For what it’s worth, BDSM includes a very wide category of sexual practices that are legal in the United States, and its activities and fantasies are not regarded by psychiatrists as an illness or disorder.”

It makes me wonder what kind of censorship is next. This is virtual book burning!

Happy Leap Year!

Yay! We get an extra day on the year the apocalypse is supposed to happen! So on this day be grateful for an extra day to be alive 🙂

So this is a day that is technically not considered a real day as it is just the accumulation of the extra 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds we have add up every year (approximately .25 of a day every year, which is why leap year only comes every 4 years). On this unreal day it is a time for us to break tradition such as ladies can ask men to marry them on this day, a tradition started in Ireland and Scotland. With those extra 24 hours this year watch a few movies or even take out that pen and start writing that novel you have been putting off. Set goals for yourself that you want accomplished by the next leap year. Or make this your free day to miss out on your diet or work out!

So go ahead and leap into something new!

Jamie Craig intwines a world of the two different characters Aleron Pitre, a thief and prisoner, with Jasak, head prison guard and an Athaki. The Athaki are a race of hunters from the planet Belenia who use fangs and claws, which are both retractible, to hunt their prey. The narration in this book paints a wicked picture that places you in the gloomy world of the prison planet, Tantoret.

I instantly took to the character Aleron Pitre, rooting for him to survive, find a way of the planet, and learn to trust someone else, since he has only looked out for himself up until now. Aleron finds himself being dumped on a dead planet with the only other occupants being prisoners and especially strong Athaki prison guards. In an effort to save himself and Jasak he ends up under the protection of the head prison guard. This is only the beginning.

The story mostly follows the two main characters, Aleron and Jasak but other character point of views come into play as we discover Tantoret is slowly unraveling with the need for control. Jamie Craig’s attention to detail leaves you with no question that this planet is hell and this is where prisoners come to only to die.

I recommend this book to any fan who can appreciate finding love in all the dark places.

Exciting event! I can’t wait to see the prizes and Happy Birthday to Amber’s Hubby 🙂
